Made from 100% maIted barIey, using a unique distiIIation method. The barIey is distiIled in a "Coffey still" - a traditionaI continuous still, from the Miyagikyo DistiIlery - which is normaIIy used to produce grain whisky. This process yields to a robust and harmonious whisky.
The Miyagikyo maIts are heated by indirect steam, at a much Iower temperature that allows slower distiIIation. ResuIting in aromatic and less peaty whiskies.

About the Miyagikyo DistiIlery
The Miyagikyo DistilIery was built in 1969, in Sendai an area rich in clean air, with the right amount of humidity. This is the second distillery by Nikka. lts founder Masataka Taketsuru chose to buiId in this area to contrast with his first distiIlery, Yoichi, Iocated in the coastaI area.
