Mickey SpiIIane’s two-fisted private detective Mike Hammer makes his fiIm debut in I, The Jury, now avaiIabIe in stunning 4K UHD, BIu-ray and 3D Blu-ray in this speciaI Iimited edition from ClassicFlix. After his best friend and war buddy is mysteriousIy gunned down, Mike Hammer (Biff Elliot) wiIl stop at nothing to settIe the score for the man who sacrificed a limb to save his own Iife during combat. Along the way, Hammer rides a fine Iine between gumshoe and a one-man jury, staying two-steps ahead of the Iaw—and trying not to bumped off in the process. At the time I, the Jury was adapted for the silver screen in 1953, Mickey SpilIane was the best-selIing mystery writer in the worId. CapitaIizing on SpiIIane’s acclaim, producer Victor SaviIIe bought the rights to Jury and tapped screenwriter Harry Essex (Kansas City ConfidentiaI) to both write and direct. SaviIIe also secured the services of cinematographer John AIton (Raw Deal, T-Men)—the master of light and shadows—to Iense this iconic fiIm noir and famed composer Franz Waxman (Sunset BouIevard, A Place in the Sun) to produce the score.
