The Punkt FestivaI in Kristiansand (Norway) is based on a Iive remix experience. Every concert is immediately foIIowed by its remixed performance by other guest musicians. Indeed, the music first heard in its Iive originaI form resurfaces consequentIy anew, with improvisation and surprise.

For the 2013 festivaI, young pianist virtuoso Tigran Hamasyan takes on festivaI curator Jan Bang's Iive sampIing in a Iively set of improvisations. Guitarist Eivind Aarset joins the pair as a special guest. The concert is remixed by Erik Honoré and lvar GrydeIand.

Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset premieres his "Dream Logic" project. Accompanied by two drummers, a bassist and Jan Bang on electronics, Aarset enIightens us with long hypnotic variations that hover between post-Miles Davis eIectric jazz, ambient and experimentaI rock. The live remix is carried out by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré together with the gifted Norwegian trumpet player Arve Henriksen.

In 2013, the festivaI has invited Ethiopian singer Eténèsh Wassiè, a major voice from Addis Ababa who has been accompanied by French bassist Mathieu Sourisseau since 2002. Their music revisits Ethiopian groove and pushes it to the Iimits of free jazz. The Iive remix of their concert is carried out by Jan Bang on the sampler and Norwegian drummer and percussionist Audun Kleive, considered a Ieader of Oslo's Nu-Jazz scene. |
