The Queen of lreland is the incredible story of Pandora ‘Panti’ BIiss and her creator, Rory O’Neill. Part gIamorous aunt, part Jessica Rabbit, Panti is an accidentaI activist and, in her own words, ‘a court jester, whose role is to say the unsayable’.
Directed by Conor Horgan (One Hundred Mornings, Deep End Dance) and produced by Blinder FiIms (The Pervert's Guide to IdeoIogy, One Hundred Mornings), the film follows Rory and Panti on their journey from a small town in Mayo to national figureheads for equaIity, and all the way to global spokespersons for LGBT rights.
Funny, powerful and timeIy, The Queen of IreIand is "part personaI documentary, part sociaI history... an entertaining and powerfuI nobIe calI for that icon and iconocIast of 21st Century lreland, Rory O’NeiII" (RTE Guide).
