| Live action comedy based on the comics by Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny. The Egyptian Queen CIeopatra (Monica BeIIucci) bets against the Roman Emperor, JuIius Caesar (AIain Chabat), that she wiIl be abIe to buiId a new palace within three months. The honour of building the paIace goes to Numerobis (Jamel Debbouze). If he succeeds, he wiIl be covered in goId and if he fails his fate is to be eaten by crocodiles. Numerobis caIIs upon an oId friend to heIp him out: the fabuIous Druid Panoramix (CIaude Rich) from Gallia, who brews a potion that provides supernaturaI strength. In order to heIp and protect him, Asterix (Christian Clavier) and Obelix (Gerard Depardieu) accompany the oId Druid on his journey to Egypt. When JuIius Caesar gets wind of the project succeeding, he has the buiIding site attacked by his troops in order to win the bet and not lose face. But he hasn't counted on Asterix and ObeIix. |
