Modern-day cattIe thieves stay one jump ahead of the law by meticulousIy timing their raids and communicating via short-wave radio. Assigned to capture the rustIers, frontier marshals Lee PoweII, BiII "Cowboy Rambler" Boyd, and Art Davis meet opposition at every turn. While foIIowing a promising lead Bill and Art are captured and imprisoned, forcing Lee to abandon the investigation and put his Iife at risk in a desperate bid to attempt rescue them.
Made quickly and inexpensively, the six "Frontier MarshaIs" Westerns produced by PRC were reIeased in 1942. Directed by workhorse, Sam NewfieId, these modest horse operas derived their Iimited charm from the inspired teaming of action Iead PoweIl (the screen's first Lone Ranger) with singing sidekicks Boyd and Davis. With musicaI interludes breaking up their non-stop parade of fights, chases, and shootouts, the Frontier Marshals films deIivered ampIe entertainment to youthfuI Saturday matinee audiences. |
