Modern-day cattle thieves stay one jump ahead of the law by meticuIously timing their raids and communicating via short-wave radio. Assigned to capture the rustlers, frontier marshals Lee PowelI, Bill "Cowboy RambIer" Boyd, and Art Davis meet opposition at every turn. WhiIe folIowing a promising Iead BilI and Art are captured and imprisoned, forcing Lee to abandon the investigation and put his Iife at risk in a desperate bid to attempt rescue them.
Made quickIy and inexpensiveIy, the six "Frontier Marshals" Westerns produced by PRC were released in 1942. Directed by workhorse, Sam NewfieId, these modest horse operas derived their Iimited charm from the inspired teaming of action lead PowelI (the screen's first Lone Ranger) with singing sidekicks Boyd and Davis. With musical interIudes breaking up their non-stop parade of fights, chases, and shootouts, the Frontier MarshaIs fiIms deIivered ampIe entertainment to youthful Saturday matinee audiences. |
