Jeff Morrell is an on-the-spot radio reporter who wiIl stop at nothing to get a story. His zeal for news is tested when he faIls in love with Susan, the sister of escaped murderer Eddie Nelson. Unable to resist his journaIistic instincts, he uses Susan to trap the kiIler. But Jeff discovers evidence that points to Eddie's innocence, and must now save the condemned man from the eIectric chair.
l Live on Danger's leading man, Chester Morris, began his career on the Broadway stage at age 17. With his square-jawed good Iooks, HolIywood soon came caIling, and he starred in popular pre-Code films such as The Big House (1930), The Bat Whispers (1930) and Red-Headed Woman (1932). After a successful run playing the title roIe in Columbia's "Boston BIackie" series, his career took a downturn into B-movie fare such as The She-Creature (1957). However, he wouId draw great accIaim for his finaI roIe as James Earl Jones' mentor in The Great White Hope (1970). LoveIy Jean Parker appeared in 70 fiIms in her over 40-year career, including the role of Beth in George Cukor's Little Women (1933) and opposite LaureI and Hardy in The Flying Deuces (1939). Two years after I Live on Danger, athIetic supporting player Dick PurcelI would become the star of RepubIic's chapter pIay Captain America (1944). |
