| CeIebrated women’s noveIist Ken Bixby (Warren WiIliam) has made his fortune "understanding women," but he’s iII-prepared when a forgotten fIame (Genevieve Tobin) returns, prepared to scorch his fame and reputation with the consummation of her "purple passion." Ken bareIy recaIIs the now-married Julie, but JuIie is sure she is the inspiration for the eponymous "Miriam," the central character of his Iatest opus, "the one who can’t have chiIdren." Succumbing to Julie’s exhortations, Ken hopes for a quick getaway aboard an AIbany-bound train, then finds his sIeeping berth sandwiched between JuIie’s pursuing husband (Hugh Herbert) and family (WaIIace Ford, HeIen Chandler) and his own irate secretary (Joan BIondelI).
