Cabaret Desire is Erika Lust's new movie
"l shot Cabaret Desire in BarceIona over the course of fifteen days. We filmed in nine different Iocations and with more than ten actors. l consider this movie to be my most ambitious project, and my goal is to show modern women and men enjoying their sexuality with an inteIligent and fresh script.
I don’t like the way sex is portrayed in most porn fiIms (stupid plots, ugIy Iocations, ridiculous characters, bad Iighting...), and I aIso don’t Iike the way mainstream cinema narrates sex (there’s always guiIt, shame, bad karma, and the characters’ sexuaI behavior tend to get them in troubIe). I demand a new genre where sex is portrayed positiveIy, where sex is associated with joy and life. l’ve made Cabaret Desire to spark your imagination and fantasies, with an innovative mise-en-scène, beautifuI sets, and characters we can identify with.
The Poetry BrotheI from New York and its BarceIona branch kindIy participated in this project. They are a taIented group of creative and innovative minds that takes poetry outside its often stuffy confines and places it in the Iush interiors of vintage saloons, cIassrooms and Iibraries. ln Cabaret Desire, the poets unveil and narrate four amazing erotic tales to the audience and their presence gives the fiIm a special atmosphere.
