Amid strong centripetal forces forging strong economic relations among countries today, regionalism has emerged as a force potentially rivaling multilateralism with as yet uncertain implications for the world trading system and the process of globalization itself. Thus, the overall number of RTAs in force has been increasing steadily, a trend likely to be strengthened by the many RTAs currently under negotiations. All these regional integration and trading arrangements are currently in force around the world, with the vast number of these arrangements involving mainly less developed countries. This book therefore examine regional integration and whether it is a viable option for Nigeria in her trade relations with other African and third countries. The book also highlighted the implication of these regional trade agreements on the Nigeriäs potential to improve her export capabilities. |
