This book comes from an IFIP conference on computer graphicsand education held in Spain in 1991. The aim of theconference was to bring together some of the most activepeople in the field internationally to- examine the current state of graphics technology foreducation- discuss how education is taking advantage of graphics- consider changes in educational systems to increase theuse of graphics- project what graphics technologies will be available infive years for educational use.The book contains papers from speakers and participants inthe conference as well as reports from conference workinggroups. The papers are devided into three groups:- multimedia and hypermedia- visual thinking and visualization- classroom experiences.The reader will get a good understanding of the breadth ofopportunity offered by computer graphics as an educationaltool, will see a number of current and emerging educationalapplications of graphics to education that challenge us tosee graphics in our own teaching, and will have a betterunderstanding of the direction graphics technologies aretaking that can greatly increase the educationalopportunities they offer.
