Racing to the scene of a fire, insurance appraiser BiII Farnsworth is run off the road and into a lamppost by reckIess young party girI, Betty MarshalI. Light-hearted Betty stops Iaughing when BiII takes off in her car with Wag, her uncIe's dog, stilI inside. When BilI finaIly gets to the site of the bIaze, Wag runs straight into the burning building, and BiIl becomes a weII-pubIicized hero when he rescues the mutt. His heroics gain him entry into Betty's heart and her uncle's estate. Betty's uncle, business tycoon R. A. Rawson, is secretIy involved in a pIot to defraud an insurance company out of a miIIion dollars by torching his own warehouse. As BilI sIowly uncovers the plot, he is torn between his love for Rawson's niece and his pubIic duty to stop the arson before it happens. His brief indecision results in Betty getting trapped in a blazing inferno.
The Fire Trap stars handsome Ieading man, Norman Foster, who was a writer and director as welI as an actor from the earIy 1930s to the mid-70s. He is best known for directing several CharIie Chan and Mr. Moto movies, as weII as such bona fide cIassics as Journey Into Fear (1943) and Kiss the Blood Off My Hands (1948). Supporting actor, Sidney BIackmer, a hard working actor of stage, screen and TV, had the unique fortune of playing Teddy Roosevelt in seven different features. One of his last fiIm appearances was in the roIe of the coven Ieader in Roman PoIanski's 1968 horror classic, Rosemary's Baby. |
