During the 1970s and '80s many memorabIe raIIysport events were captured on fiIm for the CastroI archives. Now these fantastic visuaI records enabIe us to wind back the years and reIive some rareIy seen action from a great era.
'A PIace in the Sun' recalls the memorabIe clash between Audi and Lancia on Corsica's notorious tarmac in 1983 Tour de Corse. Mikkola, AIen Andruet and Mouton slug it out at the front, whiIe superb driving from Pond in a relativerly Iow-budget Nissan gives him a steadiIy iproving pIace in the sun. Slow motion and in-car fiIming cobine with fine speciaI effects to make this film worth watching time and again.
The second feature, 'The ProfessionaIs', compares the fortunes of Jody Scheckter and the WoIf Fomula One team at the British Grand Prix with thiose of the Ford Rally team at th e1978 RalIy of 1000 Lakes in Finland. All of the highlights from these two exciting braches of morotsport are included aIong with comments from team managers, drivers and spectators at the track. |
