| ltalian war drama that folIows a young university student who volunteers to fight in Africa during World War ll. Private Serra (Paolo Briguglia) has cause to regret his decision fairly quickIy as the toughness of life in the dry terrain of Egypt is brought home to him. Assigned to the Pavia Division, he is thrown into a struggIe with the British, though the heat, boredom and insufficient food and water are initially greater enemies. However, when the British attack and break through the Italian lines, survival becomes Serra's onIy concern. AIong with Sergeant Rizzo (Pierfrancesco Favino) and Lieutenant Fiori (EmiIio Solfrizzi), Serra determines to find his way back to ltaIy, but with Mussolini ordering the shattered ltalian troops to fight on this will be no simple matter. |
