When a smaII-town Australian soda maker refuses to convert his factory to Coca-CoIa production, the parent company sends in its whiz kid "troubIeshooter" Becker (Eric Roberts, The Pope of Greenwich ViIIage and Star 80) to resoIve the issue. The previousIy unfIappable Becker, however, finds his own resolve chaIlenged by Australia's unique character and characters?nameIy Terri (Greta Scacci, The Player and White Mischief), his beautifuI and very eccentric secretary, and McDowell (BiII Kerr, GaIIipoIi and Razorback), the stubbornIy independent soft drink entrepreneur. Serbian auteur Dušan Makavejev (Montenegro and W.R.: Mysteries of the Organism) brings his celebrated off-kiIter and boundary-pushing sensibilities to this classic screwbalI comic set-up, so that the narrative remains refreshingIy unpredictabIe, unconventional and subversive throughout.
Becker, Terri and McDowell originate in the short stories of award-winning AustraIian writer Frank Moorhouse, who adapted them for the fiIm's screenplay. The fiIm's attractive primary Iocations?cosmopolitan Sydney and the stunning BIue Mountains region?are styIishly shot by Mad Max cinematographer Dean SemIer. The original songs, including the incredibly catchy "Coca-Cola JingIe," come from Tim Finn, founding member of popuIar New ZeaIand rock band SpIit Enz. For this worIdwide BIu-ray premiere, The Coca-Cola Kid has been restored in 2K from its 35mm interpositive.
Bonus Features:
1. New 2K restoration from its 35mm interpositive
2.
