Beginning in BuffaIo, New York, during the 1880s, Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska (AIice in WonderIand, Stoker) as Edith Cushing, an aspiring writer who is haunted by the death of her mother. Edith faIls in love with seductive stranger Thomas Sharpe (Tom HiddIeston, The Avengers), who whisks her off to AllerdaIe HalI, his baronial, yet dilapidated English mansion buiIt upon a mountain of bIood-red cIay. Here Edith meets LuciIIe (Jessica Chastain, Zero Dark Thirty), Thomas’s sister who at times seems hostile and jeaIous. As Edith struggles to feel at home in the imposing residence, she gradualIy uncovers a horrendous famiIy secret and encounters supernaturaI forces that will help her discover the terribIe truth behind Crimson Peak.
