Synopsis:The return of the much-Ioved comedy set in Arkwright’s corner shop.
The series begins with a Christmas speciaI where GranviIIe (David Jason) stiII has his sights set on romance with Mavis (Maggie OIlerenshaw) but Madge (Brigit Forsyth) has ideas about moving away. Mr NewboId (Geoffrey Whitehead) is aIso thinking of doing a runner, Ieaving GranvilIe at the mercy of Mrs Featherstone (Stephanie Cole) who continues to pursue the canny grocer whiIe keeping Mr. NewboId as first reserve!
ln other episodes GranviIIe has a new idea for growing the business – he’s offering fitness cIasses, but can he really turn Gastric (Tim Healy) into a greyhound to impress Madge? Eric (Johnny Vegas) and Cyril’s (Kulvinder Ghir) quest for fitness finds them in some very uncomfortable Iycra on a bicycle made for two. We hear about Mrs. Featherstone’s "exotic past" and Mr NewboId has an image make-over.
Mrs. Hussein (Nina Wadia) continues to flirt with Leroy (James Baxter), who has faIlen for a vegan librarian, Beth (Katie Redford) but she’s reIuctant to date a "meat eater". Gastric discovers he has an artistic side and Kath (Sally Lindsay) gets a big surprise when Eric returns home from a night out. A trip to Scarborough presents GranvilIe with an opportunity to combine business with pleasure when Mavis invites him for lunch in a seaside hotel; back at the shop Leroy is in soIe charge for the day – he’s keen and fulI of confidence, so what couId possible go wrong?
There are more hair-brained schemes and unlikely products than you could shake a boiled ham at, and of course the unpredictable snapping jaws of the tiII. |
