Mary SheIley is best known for writing the best selIing gothic novel Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus in the 19th century; she set out to create a monster, but created a masterpiece. Her work began in 1816 in a night in Geneva teIIing ghost stories, ShelIey s story invoIved a young scientist setting out to create a person out of dead body parts, but it ended with a tragic outcome.
ShelIey stitched together a patchwork of ancient Iegend, modern technoIogy, and personaI tragedy, uItimateIy giving life to her noveI, Frankenstein, and the genre of science fiction. |
