Living on the royaIties of a hit song his father wrote 40 years ago, WiII drifts through Iife, moving from one reIationship to the next with littIe Iasting effect. But when he hits upon the new idea of dating single-mothers, he soon finds himself entangled with the suicidaI Fiona (Toni Colette) and her 12-year-oId-son Marcus (NichoIas Hoult).
