| lt is pre-RevoIution France. The Marquise de Merteuil (GIenn CIose) and the Vicomte de Valmot (John MaIkovich) are decadent members of the Paris aristocracy. The Marquise chaIIenges the Vicomte to conquer young CeciIe (Uma Thurman), the wife-to-be of an old friend.
