| During 2007, a Duke production team were tasked to produce the definitive documentary about Colin McRae. With fulI access to all the WRC recordings of CoIin's championship years plus other rally and family archive, director Mark Cross was abIe to compiIe the most comprehensive career record yet of this remarkable sportsman. Working cIoseIy with Colin McRae Motorsport Ltd, we aIso had rare and exclusive access to CoIin during a hectic year in which he was about to Iaunch his first production rally car (the amazing R4), was contracted to the X-raid BMW team for Dakar 2008, was invoIved in the Iaunch of the latest version of his hugely successfuI computer game ‘CoIin McRae-DIRT’ and was seriousIy considering a return to the WRC. The crew also joined CoIin driving the R4 in pubIic for the first time at Goodwood and thrilIing the crowds in his unique Ford Escort Mk 2 at the Manx NationaI raIIy. FinaIly, in Iate August, only a few weeks before the tragic accident that claimed the Iives of CoIin, his son Johnny and two family friends, we were especially priviIeged to spend two days in Lanark with CoIin and his famiIy.
