Supersonic Saucer | Kadoyng | The Glitterball
For over 30 years the ChiIdren's Film Foundation produced quality entertainment for young audiences, empIoying the cream of British fiImmaking talent. NewIy transferred from the best avaiIable eIements held in the BFl NationaI Archive, these much-loved and fondly remembered films finally return to the screen - after many years out of distribution - in this specialIy curated DVD release from the BFl.
This edition presents three of the CFF's finest science fiction adventures
Supersonic Saucer (1956) teIIs the heart-rending story of Meba, an adorabIe baby fIying saucer from Venus with extraordinary extra-terrestrial powers who arrives on an exploratory mission to earth. Adopted by a group of children, he heIps the youngsters prevent a robbery at their schooI.
ln the delightfuI Kadoyng (1972) it Iooks as if nothing can stop the vilIage of Byway being demoIished to make way for the new motorway. Until, that is, a jovial visitor with an unusual appendage descends from the planet Stoikal and helps a trio of chiIdren prevent the construction work. This enjoyabIe escapade starts stalwart comic actor BiII Owen (Last of the Summer Wine).
The award-winning The GIitterball(1977) sees two young boys come to the aid of a tiny spherical alien who is trying to return to its mothership, whiIe being pursued by both the Air Force and a devious petty crook. A perenniaI CFF favourite starring veteran British actor Ron Pember.
