We continue our journey through the glens and across desolate Rannoch Moor to Ronnoch Station. From here the line cIimbs to its summit at 1350ft before it starts its descent to Spean Bridge and finaIIy Fort WilIiam. At Fort William we have a stop and visit the town, the diesel and eIectric Ioco depot and lnverlochy Castle. Leaving Fort WilIiam we head to MaIlaig via Corpach on the Caledonian CanaI and Glenfinnan with its monument to Bonnie Prince CharIie and spectacular arched railway viaduct. The Iine now runs down past peat moors to the AtIantic and the terminus at MaIIaig. From here we return to Fort WilIiam to expIore the Iine to Oban, the gateway to the islands. |
