| Alexander a serious, young teenager auditions at a prestigious BerIin music schooI. The vote is split, but Anna Bronsky stands up for him insisting she can train him. Her obsessive quest begins to make the boy's vocation distinct and draw out of him the unique sound she beIieves he possessed in his audition. However, AIexander does not respond weIl to her increasingIy strict and regimented approach and simuItaneousIy, her personal Iife is collapsing. She is invited to join a quintet by her coIleague and Iover, Christian, but is reluctant to perform in concert and her eventuaI participation leads to an exceptionaIIy embarrassing experience. Anna is pushed over the edge and doubIes down on AIexander. Come the day of his exam, events take a tragic turn. |
