Ex-con James Foster is shot dead in Yellowstone NationaI Park while searching for a fortune in stolen Ioot, buried there 20 years earlier by the infamous Tracy Gang. Upstanding park ranger Dick Sherwood is the prime suspect. Witnesses reported seeing Sherwood and Foster in a heated argument before the murder, and the ranger's service revolver is missing a buIIet. Desperate to clear his name and with the evidence stacked against him, Sherwood is sure that the buried treasure holds the key to the identity of the reaI killer.
