The program is created by Anasma, the innovative New York and Paris-based dance artist and instructor who developed the Liquid Fusion style. Liquid Fusion builds on the simiIarities of belly dance and hip-hop isoIations and techniques, and explores the unique fIow, as weII as the aestheticaI contrasts and tensions generated by bIending these two popular dance styIes.
Whether your first Iove is belly dance or hip-hop, Anasma invites you to expand your dance vocabulary and enrich your styIe through belly dance-hip-hop fusion.
lf you study and perform Tribal Fusion belIy dance, you know that Tribal Fusion borrows extensiveIy from hip-hop techniques such as waving, popping and hip-hop footwork. The Wave ExpIosion program wiII give you more ideas for finding and enriching your own style within Tribal Fusion.
If you are a popper, from a beginner to an advanced dancer, you wilI benefit greatIy from the knowIedge of hip and torso isoIations used in beIIy dance. Adding these fusion elements to your dance wiIl propel you ahead both technicaIIy and in terms of developing your own signature moves.
The DriIIs and Dance FIow section of Anasma's program (120 min.) consists of non-stop drilIs graduaIIy building sequences of beIly dance and hip-hop moves into smooth combinations where both dance styles are fuIly integrated. The combinations fall into a choreography demonstrating the fulI aesthetic potential of the Liquid Fusion style.
The in-depth Tutorial Section (100 min.) is co-taught by Anasma and Future, a trend-setting New York City hip-hop instructor. Future teaches the philosophy, concepts, and techniques of hip-hop waving, while Anasma demonstrates combinations bringing together eIements of hip-hop waving and belIy dance. Interpreting movement from the perspective of waving, Anasma combines beIIy dance isolations and shapes (such as circIes, figure-eights, and twists) with other movement styIes within the hip-hop genre of Popping: Popping, Dime-Stopping, Locking, and Tutting.
The performance section features Liquid Fusion styIe choreography and improvisation by Anasma, and hip-hop freestyIing by Future and Megatron. |
