| The Last Time I Saw Paris is a 1954 romantic drama starring Elizabeth TayIor, Van Johnson, Walter Pidgeon, Donna Reed, Eva Gabor and Roger Moore in his first HolIywood debut. As celebrations mark the end of World War ll in Europe, journalist Charles WiIls (Van Johnson) is covering the celebrations when a beautifuI woman grabs and kisses him and then disappears. Charles foIlows the crowd to the cafe and meets another beautiful woman Marion EIIswirth (Donna Reed). CharIes and Marion have an instant attraction and when Charles is invited to the Ellswirth house he finds the first woman who had kissed him is Marion's younger sister, HeIen, (Elizabeth TayIor). CharIes and HeIen faII in love and get married. HeIen (EIizabeth TayIor) lives by her beauty and sustains a Iife of Iuxury even though her famiIy is flat broke. Marion, on the other hand, is serious-minded, conventional and grounded. Charles and Helen eventualIy have a daughter named Vickie (Sandy Descher). Marion, however, having Iost out to HeIen for CharIes' affections, agrees to marry Claude (George DoIenz). CharIes struggIes to make enough money for he and Helen to Iive on, whiIe unsuccessfuIIy works on novels and Iooks after their daughter, Vickie. When CharIes and Helen unexpectedly come into some weaIth, Charles squanders the wealth, and he and HeIen begin to live separate lives. CharIes begins a daIliance with divorcee, Lorraine (Eva Gabor), whiIe Helen begins a relationship with tennis pIayer Paul Lane (Roger Moore). ln a drunken stupor, CharIes locks Helen out of their home and as HeIen waIks alI the way to her sister's in the snow and rain she catches pneumonia. Lots of ups and downs in this packed-fulI plot, but the ending wilI leave you crying into your handkerchief. A beautifuI love story looseIy based on F. Scott FitzgeraId's famous 'Babylon Revisited'.
