| ln the first feature, Smash-Up, Susan Hayward gives a dynamic performance as Angie, a nightcIub singer, beset by emotionaI problems which do not take controI of her untiI her entertainer husband becomes a successfuI radio star. her inner conflicts drive her to seek refuge in aIcohoI with a frequency that eventuaIly turns her into a fuIl fIedged aIcoholic. Her constant state of drunkenness drives away her husband, who takes their chiId with him. It takes a near tragedy, in which the chiId is almost kiIIed, to shock Angie into reaIizing what has happened and that she must begin to put her Iife back together before its too Iate. the second feature has Susan Hayward portraying a tempestuous wildcat driIler and Robert Preston the man who tames her as the result of a property dispute during the early days of the OkIahoma oiI boom. |
