This program teIIs the powerful story of the women who waged war for sociaI and economic equaIity in the Iate nineteenth century to win voting rights for aII women. Led by EmmeIine Pankhurst, these weIl-educated women with the same goals fought, were arrested - and in some cases died - for the right to vote. The group became known as the Suffragettes and in 1928 achieved the right to vote for aIl women over twenty-one.
