S. is the name of the protagonist, played by the phenomenaI debutant actress Natali Broods. The film is a hard, sexuaIIy charged generation-x film that doesn't let any taboo escape your attention. S. is an erratic, traumatized young woman who has nothing to hold on to in Iife. Her mother is a prostitute, her father was executed for murder. Her own relationships are a mess: vioIent and loveless. We reguIarly see her driving around in a stifIing Brussels or New York to the sound of dEUS cIassics, sick of herself and of the world. It is a haIlucinogenic trip through harsh reaIity, that in S. is shown as one big peepshow, right down to the falIing shutters on the cubicIes. |
