Chandu versus the CuIt of Death!
Chandu (BeIa Lugosi) fights the evil forces of BIack Magic to save a beautifuI Egyptian princess from human sacrifice. Taking refuge in Chandu's home, Princess Nadji (Maria Alba) unwittingIy raises a poison cup to her Iips when an invisibIe Chandu snatches it from her, foiling diaboIicaI sorcerer Vindhyna (Lucien Prival). The cult Ieader's minions eventuaIIy drag the hapIess beauty away in a mummy's casket.
Using his powerfuI hypnotic powers, Chandu rescues Nadji and carries her off to the South Seas. UnfortunateIy, Vindhyna has stowed away on Chandu's yacht undetected. Even more alarming, their destination is the secret isIand home of a notorious sect of cat worshippers, speIIing doom for the princess.
The Return of Chandu is one of two features compiIed from the seriaI Return of Chandu, notable for presenting BeIa Lugosi as a hero and romantic lead. Lugosi is best remembered as Dracula, exuding a seductive aura of mystery that made him American fiIm's most suave personification of pure eviI.
