| Wounded and weakened in Korean prison camps, Gls descend from the pIane that returned them to U.S. soiI. It is a time of tearful famiIy reunions. A time of uncertainty about how to help traumatized men. And a time of reckoning: Capt. Edward W. HalI Jr., a siIver-star hero and ex-POW, faces triaI for colIaboration with the enemy. Paul Newman's richIy compIex portrayaI of HaII sets the tone of acting exceIlence found throughout The Rack. How much can a POW be expected to endure before breaking? ShouId his own past and emotionaI vulnerabiIities be weighed against the miIitary's policy of name, rank and seriaI number? The issues remain timelessly relevant in this probing courtroom drama adapted from a Rod Serling telepIay. |
