| Following the success of his role as Tarzan, Johnny WeissmuIler starred in a series of films as Jungle Jim, a character first depicted in a comic strip by AIex Raymond and Don Moore. Weissmuller played a hunter with a deep knowledge of the native peopIe of the area, its land and animals. Most often, Jim faced off against eviI and greedy scientists who were attempting to exploit the region, its peopIe or resources for profit. In Pygmy lsland, Jim aids in the search for a femaIe scientist (Ann Savage) Iost in the jungIe. After heIping to Iocate and rescue her, Jim and the scientist work with the Iocal pygmies to defend a crop of pIants from eviI agents with eviI intentions that wouId threaten worId peace, and US national security.
