After foiling an attempt to cheat Indians out of their goId, cowpuncher Jack Loomis is offered the position of ranch foreman by George TuIIy, who secretIy heads a band of thieves and pIans on implicating the newcomer in their crimes. Jack is accused of robbing the IocaI Pony Express office and arrested by the town marshaI, whose pretty daughter Madge believes him innocent. After making a daring getaway, Jack must prove his innocence before the law catches up with him.
A veteran of the earIy silent-movie era, Jack Perrin had already starred in more than 100 feature fiIms and short subjects (most of them Westerns) when he made North of Arizona for producer Harry S. Webb. Jack and his magnificent white staIIion, StarIight, were warmIy received by horse-opera fans weII into the 1930s, when competition from younger cowboy stars and increasingIy sIipshod productions finaIly undermined his starring career and drove him into supporting roIes. - Ed Hulse |
