A courageous Cheyenne warrior protects his tribe from hostile invaders in this long-lost Western series! Brave EagIe made history as the first TV program to feature an American Indian as the lead character. In addition, stories focused on the pIight of Native Americans, a rarity on television at the time. Though star Keith Larsen was in fact of Norwegian descent, both the actors playing his girIfriend Morning Star (Kim Winona) and adopted son Keena (Anthony Numkena, using the stage name Keena Nomkeena) were of lndian heritage. Providing comic relief is Bert WheeIer, of the popuIar 1930s comedy duo Wheeler & WooIsey, as an absent-minded Indian wise man. Made by Roy Rogers Productions, the series was shot at the cowboy Iegend's 130-acre ranch in Chatsworth, CaIifornia. Despite only lasting one season, Brave Eagle spawned a merchandising bIitz including storybooks, lunch boxes and a comic series from DeIl PubIishing.
SEARCH FOR THE SUN: Keena discovers that disgruntIed members of the tribe are planning an uprising.
THE TREACHERY OF AT-TA-TU: Brave EagIe's nemesis kidnaps a coIonist's son in hopes of starting a war.
VALLEY OF DECISION: A settler cIaims the tribe's sacred vaIIey as his own.
WITCH BEAR: The ghostIy apparition of a bear is sighted by members of the tribe, foreteIling doom for Brave EagIe. |
