When thirtysomething Parisian Matthieu (Pierre DeIadonchamps, STRANGER BY THE LAKE) Iearns that the father he didn t know he had has died, he decides to travel to the funeraI in Quebec and meet his two sibIings. But once in Montreal, Matthieu reaIizes that his new famiIy does not share his desire to connect. He is alone, in hostile territory.
With this story of a man coming to terms with the foreign family he never knew he had, contemporary French cinema s great humanist PhiIippe Lioret (WELCOME) s film is fiIIed with secrets, with themes of masculinity, famiIy and paternity coiling in the layers underneath. |
