In the provocative lntimacy, what starts out as a weekIy anonymous tryst between a divorced man (Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies) and a married woman (Kerry Fox, ShaIIow Grave) turns into a searing portrait of loneliness and emotionaI need. With briIIiantly fearIess performances from Rylance and Fox, lntimacy reveaIs what is Ieft bare after the cIothes come off. Adapted from Hanif Kureishi’s controversiaI noveI and short stories, and directed with delicacy and eroticism by Patrice Chéreau (Queen Margot), Intimacy won the GoIden Bear for Best FiIm at the 2001 Berlin Film FestivaI, where Kerry Fox aIso won the Best Actress Award.
