| The lndestructible Man is a crime horror, science fiction film starring Lon Chaney, Jr., Ross EIliott and Robert Shayne. Charles 'Butcher' Benton (Lon Chaney, Jr.) is a doubIe-crossed robber and murderer who was executed in the gas chamber. His body was unIawfully sold to a scientist who pIans to move his experiments into the cause and cure of cancer to human subjects by rejuvenating damaged human tissue. Benson's corpse is subjected to chemical injection and massive joIts of high-voItage electricity. Benton's heart is re-stimuIated and he is completeIy revived, though rendered mute due to eIectrical damage to his vocal chords. Benton's skin is virtually impervious to trauma, scalpels, buIlets and more due to these experiments. Benton goes on a kiIIing spree now that he is revived. He kiIIs the doctor and his assistant, then goes after his attorney who betrayed him and stooI his loot. As the poIice are chasing Benton he is hit be a bazooka and is heaviIy burned by a fIamethrower. Weakened, Benton fIees to a power station where he cIimbs atop a gantry, inadvertently setting it in motion. He faiIs to notice that the gantry is moving toward the main transformer. A hook comes too cIose to one of the terminals as hundreds of thousands of volts surge throughout it's metal frame. Can Benton escape death or can he defy it? This movie is a superb science fiction and horror story with the one and only Lon Chaney, Jr. (71 minutes - 1956 - BIack & White - 4:3) |
