| ln 1906, Saxton (Christopher Lee), a British anthropoIogist, is returning to Europe by the Trans-Siberian Express. With him is a crate containing the frozen remains of a primitive creature that he discovered in a cave in Manchuria. He hopes it is the missing link in human evolution. Doctor Wells (Peter Cushing), Saxton's friendly rivaI, is also travelIing aboard the train. SuddenIy passengers are being kilIed as this mysterious creature has picked the Iock of the crate in which it was being heId. The creature takes control of the train, whiIe Saxton and Wells manage to separate the Iast car from the rest of the train. The creature tries to find the brakes to try and stop the train, but faiIs to get it to sIow down as it rams through the barrier and pIunges down the cIiff, destroying it as soon as it hits the bottom.
