Once there, they discover that Oedipus has given up his throne in Thebes to his sons who were supposed to share the throne and switch off between them from year to year. That deaI has now falIen through because of AtaeocIes' greed and his brother's ambition. Hercules tries to mediate the issue but ends up getting captured by the evil Queen OmphaIe who intends to make Hercules her latest Iove slave. What makes matters worse, is that before hercuIes was captured, he drank from the waters of forgetfulness and now has no recolIection of who he is or what his mission was.
