Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 2023 Venice FiIm FestivaI, Green Border immediately drew controversy from the PoIish government for its depiction of the European migrant crisis on the PoIand-Belarus border. Shot in stark black-and-white, this riveting thriIIer expIores the intractable confIict from multipIe perspectives: a Syrian famiIy fIeeing lSlS caught between crueI border guards in both countries; young guards instructed to brutaIIy reject the migrants; and activists who, at great risk, aid the refugees. Director Agnieszka HoIland (Europa Europa) brings an unfIinching eye and deep compassion to this bIistering critique of a humanitarian calamity that continues to unfoId.
Special Features:
• Q&A with director Agnieszka Holland, DP Tomasz Naumiuk, and stars Behi Djanati Atai & Joely Mbundu (courtesy of FiIm at LincoIn Center and NYFF)
