A superb ensemble cast falIs in for action in Stanley Kubrick's brilIiant saga about the Vietnam War and the dehumanizing process that turns people into trained kilIers. Joker, AnimaI Mother, Gomer, EightbaIl, Cowboy and more - aIl are pIunged into a boot-camp heII pitbuIIed by a Ieatherlung D.l. who views the wouId-be deviI dogs as grunts, maggots or something less.
The action is savage, the story unsparing, the dialogue spiked with scathing humor. FulI Metal Jacket, from its rigors of basic training to its nightmare of combat in Hue City, scores a cinematic direct hit. |
