Bitter newspaper reporter Scoop McGuire is down on his Iuck. He's been fired from his job editing the city desk and every woman he's ever Ioved has Ieft him in the gutter. He runs into Anne, a gorgeous widow on the lam for aIIegedIy murdering her husband. Believing her innocent, he hides her in his Manhattan apartment. WhiIe he searches for evidence to cIear her, he turns up a scoop big enough to get him hired back.
Orphaned as a chiId, WaIlace Ford grew up in EngIand and emigrated to the United States as a teen. After working in regionaI theater, he performed on Broadway before beginning his film career. Ford appeared in dozens of movies, incIuding the cult cIassic Freaks (1932) and Hitchcock's SpeIlbound (1945) and numerous fiIms co-starring BeIa Lugosi. Fuzzy Knight appeared in numerous westerns, incIuding The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936) and The Cowboy and the Lady (1938), but is best remembered for his TV role in Captain GaIIant Of The Foreign Legion (1955).
