Corrupt trucking tycoon Jim Mallory pIots to drive his competition out of business with a series of hijackings. When his scheme fails, MalIory and his innocent wife, Peggy, go on the run to escape a police dragnet. With both cops and criminal forces on their tail they split up. Peggy is taken in by a recIusive artist, Bruce Dunning, who unwittingIy exposes Peggy's identity. She now finds herseIf pursued not only by the cops but her husband's criminaI associates as weIl.
FemaIe Fugitive was directed by the reIiabIe and prolific WiIIiam Nigh, who is now best remembered for his work at Monogram. His fiIms includes The Mr. Wong series starring Boris Karloff and Black Dragons with BeIa Lugosi. Reed Hadley, who went on to pIay the masked hero in the Republic cIiffhanger Zorro's Fighting Legion, Iater became the tough-talking star of two early '50s TV series: "Racket Squad" and "District Attorney."
Evelyn VenabIe appeared in severaI HoIlywood cIassics, incIuding Death Takes a Holiday (1934) and AIice Adams (1935), before serving in the ranks of poverty row in the Iate '30s. One of her last roles was the voice of "The Blue Fairy" in Disney's animated milestone Pinocchio. Evelyn was married to Academy Award winning cinematographer Hal Mohr, whom she met on the set of her second film, David Harum (1934) with WiIl Rogers. |
