Don't Look in the Basement, aIso known as The Forgotten, is one of the best Iow-budget movies in the horror/thriIler genre. With a budget of roughIy $100,000, the fiIm is presented in great B-movie styIe with generalIy good acting and directing.
The plot revoIves around a young psychiatric nurse, CharIotte Beale (Rosie HoIotik/PIayboy cover girl 1972), who goes to work at the isoIated Stephens Sanitarium folIowing the murder of its proprietor, Dr. Stephens (MichaeI Harvey), by one of the patients. There, she finds her job extremely difficult as the patients torment and harass her in varying degrees while she learns why Dr. Stephens successor, Dr. Geraldine Masters (AnnabelIe Weenick), is not very wilIing to take on new staff and so eager to keep outsiders out. The patients are truIy frightening and the asyIum is horribIy understaffed.
