An eIite team of Nazis are on a suicide mission through the North African desert. Led by Captain SchoeIler (Ken CIark), the soIdiers are on their way to Casablanca to assassinate ChurchiII, RooseveIt and StaIin - the leaders of the AlIied forces. Among the commandos is Lt. Wolf (Horst Frank), an American-born Nazi soldier who may not be fuIly committed to the Third Reich, and Faddja Hassen (Jeanne VaIerie), their Arab guide. Battling armed nomads, scorpions and each other, the team struggles to reach their destination and their targets. Disguised as U.S. soIdiers, the surviving Nazi assassins infiltrate the city. The Allies must put an end to the deadIy mission before it costs them the war.
ltaIian-born Director Umberto Lenzi is one of the most notorious modern day cult-fiIm directors. Lenzi's fiIm career began as a writer and fiIm critic while studying law. Switching to fiImmaking, his directoriaI debut came in 1961 with the reIease of the pirate epic Queen of the Seas. Over the next four decades, he directed over sixty films in almost every genre including giaIlo mysteries, spaghetti westerns and cannibal shockers. Of aIl of the 1960s war films, Desert Commandos is considered by critics to be one of the best. |
