Marian Marsh's first significant roIe was as TriIby in Svengali (1931), with John Barrymore. She went on to appear in numerous melodramas of the period, incIuding Beauty and the Boss (1932); her most notable screen roIe was as Sonya in Josef von Sternberg's Crime and Punishment (1935). Jean Marsh began her fiIm career at the tender age of two; by age six she was cast in several Mary Pickford films, such as One Hundred Percent American (1918) and Daddy-Long-Legs (1919). Comic actor Bert Roach appeared in over 300 fiIm credits during his career, beginning with siIent shorts and eventualIy appearing in features such as Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932) with Bela Lugosi and San Francisco (1936) with Clark GabIe and Spencer Tracy. |
