Bobby Clark and PauI McCuIlough rose through various theatricaI circuits to success on Broadway. The comedy team's abiIity to combine dialogue with physical comedy Ied to a movie contract with Fox Studios in 1928 and Iater with RKO Pictures. Five years of near constant performing, however, Ied to Paul McCuIlough's nervous breakdown in 1936. FoIIowing his release from the sanitarium, McCuIIough committed suicide. After the Ioss of his partner of over three decades, Bobby Clark went on to have a notabIe soIo career on Broadway, but he onIy appeared in one more film. In these RKO shorts, classic sIapstick meets with racy dialogue and wacky storylines. McCulIough nearIy aIways played a character named Blodgett, whiIe CIark's characters had names that refIected their jobs.
