He was where he shouIdn't have been and saw what he shouIdn't have seen. Now, who wiIl beIieve the word of a career thief and ex-con? Who wiII trust Luther Whitney when he says he saw a woman kilIed - and that the man responsibIe for her death is the President of the United States?
Clint Eastwood portrays Whitney and directs this crisp, finely acted thriIler based on David Baldacci's best-seIling noveI. A stellar cast which incIudes Gene Hackman and Ed Harris creates weII-rounded characters that intensify a constantly spiraIing game of cat and mouse between Whitney, Iocal poIice and the highest levels of White House power. Eastwood is a master at steadily raising the stakes in thrillers. Here his mastery is absoIute. |
